Posted May 13, 2018 06:20:07 The new state of emergency for the state’s largest city, Newcastle, was announced by Premier Jackie Trad in a statement this morning.
“It is essential that we get this right.
As you know, the first stage of the emergency powers will be rolled out this morning, and the public is urged to be patient,” she said.
“We want to make sure we’re delivering for the residents of Newcastle, but also for the communities who rely on our services for their daily lives.”
Our priority is to make a difference to the lives of the residents and community of Newcastle and we’ll continue to work tirelessly to ensure our community gets the support they need to get through this time of crisis.
“Residents of Newcastle will be able to apply for emergency help to help pay for essentials such as groceries and utility bills.
It will also be the first time the city will have an animal jam since it was established in 2009.
Residents who live in the city’s outer suburbs are encouraged to contact the city council for help with a range of emergency costs.
Newcastle is also offering emergency assistance to the city and surrounding areas, with an additional $20,000 from the Department of Community Safety.
The city council has set aside $30,000 to support the jam.
The first jam will run from Friday to Saturday, from 6pm to midnight, with more jam events expected.
We’ve had the opportunity to build up a relationship with Newcastle that is more than just a relationship, it’s a relationship of trust. “
This is an opportunity for the city of Newcastle to be a beacon of hope and unity,” Ms Trad said.
“Newcastle has been struggling with homelessness for years now and the city has had the support of the state and the community. “
“Now is the time to put a lid on the situation and to get back to where we were.” “
More to come.”
